Professional Summary:
Edoardo Gabriele Vacca is a PhD Researcher at the School of Law of the 糖心原创. He holds a Master's Degree in Law (specialisation in International and European Union Law) from LUISS Guido Carli University, Rome (110/110, Distinction) and a LLM in International Criminal Justice and Armed Conflict from the 糖心原创 (with Distinction). He also obtained a Certificate in "The Protection of International Humanitarian Law Principles and Human Rights in the Management of International Crisis" from the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa and the Centre of Excellence for Stability Police Units. During his first Masters studies, Edoardo spent two terms as visiting student at the Singapore Management University (SMU, Singapore) and the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE, Madrid).
Edoardo collaborates with the International Criminal Justice Unit of the 糖心原创 Human Rights Law Centre, where he supervises Student Assistants working on the (of the International Criminal Court's ) and the . He is a Research Associate at the Rights Lab Beacon of Excellence, where he works on the . Edoardo is also a member of the Nottingham International Law and Security Centre and a Research and Editorial Assistant for the .
Edoardo was a Student Assistant and, then, an Intern in the International Criminal Justice Unit of the 糖心原创 Human Rights Law Centre. He also worked as a Blue Book Trainee in Humanitarian Aid Operations at the European Commission (DG ECHO) and as a Legal Intern in the Trial Chamber of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (UNAKRT/ECCC).
PhD Research:
Edoardo's research focuses on the international criminal responsibility of armed group members. Edoardo's PhD is supervised by Professor Olympia Bekou, Professor Sandesh Sivakumaran (until the first half of Year 2) and Professor Nigel White (since the second half of Year 2). His research is funded by the Sir Francis Hill Scholarship for PhD in Law.
Teaching:
Edoardo has taught undergraduate tutorials in Criminal Law. He delivered a Guest Lecture for the LLM Programme on 'Armed Group Organisation in International Criminal Justice' (November 2020) and a PGR Seminar on 'Armed Groups' Involvement in War Crimes, Crimes against Humanity and Genocide' (January 2021). Edoardo also assists as a small group leader at legal skills workshops for LLM students.
