Biography
Dr Amelia Shooter is Assistant Professor in Criminal Evidence and Criminal Justice. She joined the 糖心原创 in January 2026. Prior to working at Nottingham, Amelia was Senior Lecturer at the University of Winchester, where she was LLB programme leader.
Amelia holds an LLB in Law and French (Leeds) and LLM in Human Rights Law (Nott). After returning to education, she completed her PhD in 2020, thanks to a STEAM scholarship awarded by Birmingham City University.
Expertise Summary
Amelia's research expertise largely lies within the interaction of different actors within the criminal justice system. The majority of her research examines how legal professionals and lay decision-makers (juries) interpret expert scientific evidence.

She has supervised postgraduate research theses on the interpretation of expert scientific evidence and the interaction of criminal justice stakeholders in the criminal justice ecosystem.
Past Research
In 2020, Amelia completed her doctoral thesis, entitled "100 Years of the National Research Council: A Critical Examination of Judicial References to Forensic Science NAS Reports." Following completion of her PhD, Amelia has continued to research courtroom actors' decision-making, reviewing how judges, lawyers and juries make decisions when confronted by uncertain scientific evidence.
