In December 2013 Dr Conor Cunningham and Dr Simon Oliver presented papers at a conference entitled ‘Christian Wisdom meets Modernity’ at the University of Notre Dame in the United States.

Scholars from around the world engaged the thought of significant modern thinkers from a theological perspective. Dr Cunningham presented a paper on Charles Darwin and Dr Oliver a paper on the twentieth century Jewish philosopher Hans Jonas.

The conference was part of a major ten year project entitled  which examines the decisive chapter of ‘the modern’ in our intellectual and cultural history through book series, conferences and electronic resources for scholars and students.
