Dr David Gehring chapter published in Early Modern European Diplomacy: A Handbook

Dr David Gehring, alongside Dr Stefanie Freyer (University of Osnabrück), has contributed to the recently published edited collection Early Modern European Diplomacy: A Handbook.

Their chapter, entitled 'Evolution and Revolution in British Diplomacy', examines British diplomacy from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century. They examine significant moments of British diplomatic relations from Henry VII and James IV's Treaty of Perpetual Peace in 1503 to the "diplomatic representatives of the Hanoverian kings".

Dr David Gehring and Dr Stefanie Freyer argue that "by the end of the period one thing could be certain. [British diplomacy had set] the stage... for the British Empire".
