Biography

I am a Classicist specialising in the history, archaeology, and reception of Sparta and the Peloponnese, with particular interests in the representation and experiences of women in the ancient world. I hold a BA in Liberal Arts (First Class) and an MA in Classics (Distinction), for which I was also awarded the Robert Markus Prize and the Rich Prize. I am currently undertaking doctoral research on the role of the non-royal Spartan (citizen) women from the Late Bronze Age to the Archaic period through textiles, motherhood and gynaecology. This research is under the supervision of Dr Chrysanthi Gallou, Dr Phillip Davies, and Dr Lynn Fotheringham. My PhD is funded by the prestigious Wolfson Foundation.

Alongside my doctoral research, I am a Junior Member of the Centre for Spartan & Peloponnesian Studies (CSPS) and serve on the Postgraduate Subcommittee of the CSPS SPECS (Sparta & Peloponnese Early Career Scholars) Global Network. My academic interests extend beyond my own research to the development of collaborative and interdisciplinary scholarly communities, particularly those that create opportunities for dialogue between established and emerging researchers.

I am the organiser and host of AGIDO/A螕螚螖惟, an intergenerational webinar series dedicated to the history, archaeology, and reception of the women of Sparta and the Peloponnese from Prehistory to the Roman period. This series is held under the auspices of the CSPS, in partnership with the "Daughters of Penelope - Sparti" Association and brings together scholars from different career stages and disciplinary backgrounds to examine the diverse ways in which women of the ancient Peloponnese have been represented, understood, and remembered.
