This article published in the British Educational Research Journal reports on a study by Professor David Murphy in the Centre for Research in Human Flourishing. 

The educational outcomes for looked after and vulnerable children is an important issue for education policymakers. The use of boarding school placements might offer a fruitful approach for raising GCSE attainment and thus enhancing children's life chances.

This study provides support for the use of boarding school placements for looked after and vulnerable children as opposed to residential care. GCSE grades in maths, English and Attainment 8 scores were all improved for looked after and vulnerable children in boarding schools compared to matched controls not attending boarding schools.
