Members of the University & College Union (UCU) have announced their intention to undertake industrial action.
UCU have today notified us of their intent to take industrial action, including action short of a strike (ASOS) and a marking and assessment boycott (MAB), proposed from Wednesday 20 May. They have also confirmed their intent to take discontinuous strike action on Friday 22 May.
While we respect our employees’ right to take industrial action, the fact this is being done to create maximum disruption for our students at an already stressful time is really disappointing.
Many of you will be unaffected by this action, but we understand that it will cause concern and we want to reassure you that we have clear procedures and support in place to minimise any disruption and to help mitigate the impact of a marking and assessment boycott.
Nothing will happen immediately so we will update you again early next week to share further details around how you will be communicated with about any impact on teaching and assessment and what you can do, as well as where to go if you have questions or need any support.
