The university transitions to a new occupational health provider

Thursday, 27 August 2026
Following a competitive procurement exercise, the university has appointed Innovate Healthcare Management Limited (Innovate Healthcare) as its new occupational health provider.

Many of our students engage with occupational health, either as part of their Professional Statutory and Regulatory Bodies course requirements through course entry, placement health clearance and reasonable adjustments. Innovate Healthcare have been appointed as our new provider to offer a more accessible, responsive, and digitally enabled occupational health service for our students.

As part of this appointment, the data and records of students who have engaged with Optima Health will be transferred to Innovate Healthcare in accordance with the university’s Information Security Governance requirements.

If you would like to discuss the transfer of your Occupational Health records, please complete the Data Transfer Query form below by 5pm BST, Friday 4 September.

Do I still need to attend my occupational health appointments?

Yes. The Occupational Health Service continues to operate as normal with Optima Health at this time.

If you have an Occupational Health appointment booked, or are currently accessing Occupational Health support, please continue to attend appointments and follow existing processes unless advised otherwise.

We are working closely with both providers to ensure a smooth transition and will keep you updated as further information becomes available.

What can I expect from the new service?

Innovate Healthcare will provide a range of improvements, including:

  • Easier access to specialist occupational health support through a multidisciplinary clinical team
  • More flexible appointment options, including video consultations
  • Improved digital systems and communications
  • Mobile-friendly access and SMS notifications
  • Self-service appointment functionality

These improvements are designed to make it easier to access occupational health support and enhance the overall experience for students using the service.

What happens next?

The transition from Optima Health to Innovate Healthcare will take place through a phased approach between September and October 2026.

Further information will be shared throughout the implementation period, including dates of when services will transfer to Innovate Health, guidance on accessing the new service, and frequently asked questions. In the meantime, if you have any queries, please contact BR-HR-OHSupport@nottingham.ac.uk.

Thank you for your support as we introduce our new occupational health service.
