Road closures on campus

Estates and Facilities will be undertaking a programme of work to resurface and update line markings across campus this summer.

During resurfacing work, affected areas will be closed to all traffic including hopper buses.

The dates outlined below are tentative and subject to suitable weather conditions:

Sutton Bonington Campus

  • Monday 29 June to Wednesday 8 July – Junction to Equine access / Slaughter House
    The road to the side of the Gateway building will be closed for works towards the end of the road by Equine access and the Slaughter House on Friday 3 and Tuesday 7 July.

  • Wednesday 1 to Wednesday 8 July – Widening of Equine access road
    The road works will be undertaken in phases, and car parking spaces will be limited during this time.

  • Thursday 2 to Wednesday 8 July – Farm yard access slab
    A new concrete slab will be added to the farm yard, near the farm implement shed. Measures will be put in place to allow farm traffic to pass through.

  • Friday 3 to Wednesday 8 July – Road through barriers onto Landcroft Lane
    Road will be closed one lane at a time for isolated resurfacing to allow traffic to pass through. There will be limited closures of roads for the resurfacing on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 July. Exit barriers onto Landcroft Lane will be closed one lane at a time to allow for vehicles to pass.

  • Associated line marking works are to follow, and remarking of the CLV South car park is tentatively scheduled for Monday 3 August

Jubilee Campus

  • Tuesday 7 July – Jubilee Sports Centre (front car park) and Costa car park
    The car park will be closed to all parking and deliveries – please use alternative car parks during this time – the nearest in this case being at the rear of Jubilee Sports Centre, accessed through Innovation Park.

  • Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 July – The Exchange bus layby
    This bus layby, drop off and delivery areas will be closed on the days above. A new temporary bus stop location will be available located on Spine Road, between the Exchange building and Business School North.

  • The areas on Jubilee campus above will re-close on Friday 10 July to allow for associated line marking. Further line marking will follow on Friday 24 July. This will include works to refresh the line markings on Spine Road, between the Yang Fujia car park entrance and the Advanced Manufacturing Building. A small amount of local parking restrictions will be in place on the day.

University Park Campus 

  • Saturday 11 July - Physics & Chemistry access road (from the North entrance)
    The road will be closed on this day and there shall be no vehicular access to Cripps North / South, Chemistry, Physics, etc.

  • Saturday 18 July - East Drive bus lane (between Keighton Hill & Portland Hill)
    The road will be closed on this day and there shall be no vehicular access down Portland Hill, or along East Drive after Keighton Hill. A temporary alternative bus stop will be set up for buses which normally serve East Drive, located further down East Drive by the Life Sciences car park.

    Associated line marking works will follow, planned for Monday 13, Tuesday 14 and Monday 20 July. Further line marking works will follow over the summer which will see some car parks temporarily closed, with works to Lenton & Wortley and Lincoln car park tentatively scheduled for closure on Friday 31 July and Cavendish car park for Friday 7 August.
  • Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 July – George Green Library & Estates access road

    Closure of the road between 9am and 4pm. No day time access to Physics south, George Green Library, Life Sciences north, Maths car park or Estates yard. Barriers will be in place for pedestrian crossings. The nearest alternate car park for colleagues to use during this time will be the Main Visitor car park or Life Sciences car park.

  • Thursday 9 and Friday 10 July – Beeston Lane Wings Parking (opposite Orchard hotel)

    The wings parking bays alongside Beeston Lane, between David Ross Sports Centre access and Rutland Hall, will be temporarily closed. Alternative parking will be available, but colleagues will lose access to some electric vehicle charging spaces.

  • Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 July – Loverose Way / Orchard Hotel Entrance

    Both lanes to the entrance of the hotel will be resurfaced with some closures. On Monday, the road will be closed one lane at a time. On Tuesday, both lanes will be closed between approx. 10am – 2pm.

  • Tuesday 14 July – Lenton Hall Drive (outside Cripps House)

    Road closed for pothole and trench repairs. Traffic management measures will be put in place with lane closures to allow vehicles to pass. On street parking that is normally available near these works will be unavailable during this time, up to Welcome Point North.

  • Thursday 16 and Friday 17 July – Access Road to David Ross Sports Village (DRSV)

    Temporary diversion to access DRSV for parking – vehicles will be asked to access via Nightingale Close and exit via Lenton Fields access road. The Busy Bees and swimming pool end of the car park will be closed and inaccessible between 10am – 3pm. Alternative parking can be found on Beeston Lane and Lenton Fields car park.

If you drive to campus, please ensure you do not leave your vehicle parked in the above mentioned areas during the works as they could be be at risk of damage.

There may be some short delays in travel times during the course of these works – please plan journeys accordingly.
