The new academic calendar will be implemented from September 2027. The calendar has been designed with the input of students and staff to prioritise student experience, offering a more balanced distribution of workload and assessment, and improving alignment between our UK, China and Malaysia campuses.

How has the calendar changed?

Moving forward, the university year will be organised into two semesters, with 11 weeks of teaching per semester. We will cease using terms.

Semester one will have two weeks of assessment in the winter, and semester two will have three weeks of assessment in the summer.

The winter vacation will be four weeks and the spring vacation will be slightly shorter at three weeks. The spring vacation will track the Easter bank holiday period and local school holidays. Where Easter falls early and 11 weeks of pre鈥憊acation teaching are not possible, some teaching will follow the spring vacation.
