Myths about heroes are constantly changing. Historical Spartan warriors had distorted memories of ‘Bronze Age’ heroes, but their hoplite warfare with a phalanx of ‘equals’ was not at all like the image presented by Prehistoric warrior-burials: Symbols of wealth, status and power mark them. But is all what it seems?
