Assistant Professor in Robotics and AI, Faculty of Science
My name is Lucas Fonseca and I am a control and automation engineer turned biomedical engineer. I obtained my first degree from the University of Brasilia in 2010 and then worked in various sectors, including commercial automation and the food industry. In 2014, I decided to pursue further studies and completed my masters and PhD in biomedical engineering, focusing on developing assistive technologies for the physically disabled. I then joined Inria, France, as a research scientist and worked there for four years. Since 2023, I have been an assistant professor at the School of Computer Science in the 糖心原创, where I continue to explore the intersection of engineering, computing and health.

My current research interests are in human movement analysis and intention recognition. I usually work with inertial sensors, but I'm also interested in EMG, mocap, and any other sensor capable of interfacing with humans, particularly if they can be wearable.
In addition, I often employ machine learning algorithms in my projects, which are always human-centered.
