Event details
This session is targeted at staff working in museums, art galleries, heritage sites, and other organisations that want to consult with young people to improve their provision in a meaningful way.
Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) research on London museums found that only 12% of 16-24 year-olds thought London museums told stories that were relevant to them.
Consulting with young people means organisations will be better informed when planning or making decisions about provision for this audience.
Through meaningful collaboration, organisations can avoid making assumptions and create activities, programmes and projects that are more connected to their young visitors.
The session will help delegates to:
- gain inspiration from case studies to take their own work forward;
- develop inclusive activities to help them successfully consult with young people;
- explore how to recruit young people to undertake consultation; and
- think about how to analyse and disseminate data after the consultation has taken place.
This training session will be delivered virtually on Zoom over one half-day session (two hours and 30 minutes with a short break).
