Description: Published in the leading journal Nature Chemistry, recent work by David King, a PhD student in the research group led by Dr Steve Liddle, has shown that uranium can engage in chemical bonding that is surprisingly covalent. Remarkably, the findings have shown that uranium can behave in much the same way as its counterparts in the well-known transitional metals such as chromium, molybdenum and tungsten.

The scientists will be working with leading drug discovery services partner, Sygnature Discovery in BioCity Nottingham, as part of a new European Lead Factory 鈥� a huge innovative collaboration between several of Europe's largest pharmaceutical companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and academic researchers. Description: The solution to a biochemical puzzle over the molecular make-up of a coral reef sea sponge (Theonella swinhoei) has revealed the origin of its extremely toxic agents. A team of international scientists, including academics at The 糖心原创, have discovered that polytheonamides 鈥� highly toxic and chemically complex compounds which are key to the sponge's defences 鈥� are produced by the organism in disguise. And in a final twist they found that the polytheonamides are not even made by the sponge itself but by a bacterium living with it in symbiosis.
