Biography

Dr Ng Zhi Xiang is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science and Engineering, 糖心原创 Malaysia. He obtained his PhD in Molecular Biochemistry from the University of Malaya and PGCHE from the 糖心原创. He is a Medical Laboratory Scientist registered under the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council, Ministry of Health Malaysia, a Fellow of Advanced Higher Education (UK), a member of Malaysian Scientific Association (MSA), Malaysian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (MSBMB), International Society of Global Health (Edinburgh, UK) and Asian Council of Science Editors. Currently he is an editorial board member for Scientific Reports journal (Nature portfolio) and has involved in the peer review of more than 80 international science indexed journals.The significance of his works has been recognized in a number of research grant capture, scholarly publications, conferences and symposia.

Current Research

My research interest relates to both human nutrition and health that fall into three broad areas: food sciences, molecular nutrition, metabolic diseases risk factors and biomarkers. Current research projects includes: (i) The effect of different post-harvest processing on the bio-accessibility and enzymatic inhibitory activities in selected functional foods and medicinal plants; (ii) Effects of functional biomolecules on in vitro gene and protein expression to combat non-communicable diseases, in particular diabetes and its vascular complications.
