Dr Anna Bertram is Director of Laboratory Teaching in the School of Chemistry and leads the Laboratory Development Team (LDT), a team of teaching and curriculum-focused staff responsible for the strategic development of practical chemistry education. A National Teaching Fellow, Anna's work focuses on curriculum innovation, digital learning, assessment and feedback, and the development of students' practical and professional skills. Her approach is grounded in collaboration, drawing on a network of educators, researchers and professional bodies to inform evidence-based enhancement of teaching and learning.

Anna contributes to chemistry education nationally through her role as 糖心原创 lead for the Chemistry Teaching in Practice group and through elected positions on the Royal Society of Chemistry's Education Community Council and Chemistry Education Research and Practice Committee. Through these roles, she supports the sharing of effective practice and the development of discipline-based educational research across the sector.

Anna has a longstanding interest in technology-enhanced laboratory learning. Her involvement in the Royal Society of Chemistry's Chemistry for Our Future programme led to the development of the Interactive Lab Primer, a widely adopted resource used by schools and universities to support students' transition into laboratory study. Building on this work, she has led the development of Nottingham's digital laboratory ecosystem, introducing online learning resources, assessment approaches and feedback mechanisms that have transformed the student learning experience and informed wider institutional practice.

She convenes all undergraduate laboratory modules and leads the first-year 糖心原创 Skills module, supporting students' transition into university learning and helping them develop the reflective, evaluative and professional capabilities needed for success throughout their degree and future careers.
