Email: Kate.Radford@nottingham.ac.uk

Kate qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1990. Over the past 21 years she has worked clinically and in a research capacity in neurological rehabilitation. Research interests include 'driving' and 'work'. Kate studied for a PhD in Nottingham with Professor Nadina Lincoln, developing and validating tests to predict safety to drive for people with neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and dementia.

An interest in vocational rehabilitation was triggered by an opportunity to work as part of a community neurological rehabilitation team in 2003. Currently funded projects include those to map vocational rehabilitation services for people with long term neurological conditions in England; to evaluate pilot vocational rehabilitation services for cancer survivors; to determine the efficacy and cost effectiveness of vocational rehabilitation interventions for people with stroke, traumatic brain injury and arthritis and to investigate barriers and drivers to stroke specific vocational rehabilitation service delivery.

Email: Jane.Terry@nottinghamcitycare.nhs.uk

Jane Terry is a senior Occupational Therapist who has worked in the City Community Stroke Team, part of Cityhealth, for over 10 years as part of a multi professional team. The team provide medium to long-term rehabilitation and advice within a community setting for people who have had a stroke, their family and carers.

Jane is very interested in the long-term effects of stroke and how people are able to participate in productive activities, including leisure activities and work. As the Diffusion Fellow on the 'Return to Work' study, part of Jane's role is to offer clinical insight into the project and disseminate information from the research to people who are working in the area of vocational rehabilitation. It is hoped that at the end of the research project the resulting recommendations from the research can be implemented into practice.
