Research summary
Krista's doctoral research explores initiatives aimed at improving equity within primary healthcare organisations in a local English healthcare system. It examines how healthcare teams understand equity and disadvantage, and how efforts to address these issues are shaped through interactions with communities, processes of knowledge production, and wider organisational and system-level changes.
The study seeks to contribute to existing theory on equity in public services by investigating how mismatches between organisational or service design and the needs of excluded groups become visible and are addressed within frontline settings. It focuses on the processes through which healthcare teams recognise and respond to inequities in practice.
At the same time, the research aims to provide practical insights for policymakers, managers, and evaluators by exploring how healthcare teams carry out the day-to-day work of designing, implementing, and assessing organisational or service changes in pursuit of more equitable healthcare outcomes.
